Make Sure You Are Taking Care Of Your Septic Tank

Your septic tank collects all the wastewater and material that gets flushed out from your house. The tank collects it and starts the filtration process. The process starts in the first chamber, which has anaerobic bacteria in it. The bacteria starts to eat all the solids in the tank. They create a sludge that will eventually build up and block the outlets into the next chamber. Because the outlets are blocked, nothing is able to pass along into the next part of the tank. That hose is attached to a tanker truck, and when it gets turned on, it will suck everything in your tank into the truck, including all the liquid and the sludge at the bottom of the tank. Doing that will allow the water to be able to flow freely from one chamber to the next. And since the service tech pumped out the tank, it will be empty, which will let you start all over with a clean tank until it's time to pump the tank again in a few years. Pumping the tank can also be the start to doing a better cleaning job so that the tank can be inspected. 

Cleaning the Tank

Cleaning the tank so that the service tech can inspect it involves pumping out the tank, even if isn't time for the tank to be pumped normally. That's because the tech can't see what is going on with the tank if it has water and solids in it. After the tank has been pumped, the tech will spray it down to get rid of anything clinging onto the walls of the tank and make sure that water is sucked out too. Then the service tech can look at the tank to make sure that there isn't anything wrong with it.
